One step closer…
So a few weeks ago, I grabbed a couple of my girlfriends and we went to look at a Mustang. The right color outside, but tan on the inside. Not perfect, but maybe I could settle? I was worried about the negative equity in my Honda, fears which turned out to be right on when the dealer offered me only $1500 for it! Since I owed almost $4000 more then that I had to decline and walk away. Later I was glad I did, I don’t want to settle for less than exactly what I want. So I started thinking…
I went on line and started looking around at what other cars like mine were selling for. I was surprised to find out that they were selling for more than I thought they would be. I figured ‘what the heck?’ and put out an ad to see if anyone bit. And what do you know?
I am officially car-less. I sold my lovely Honda last night for remarkably close to what I owed on it and am now one step closer to my dream. I could rush right out and buy the first Mustang I find, but that isn’t really my style. I like to take my time with decisions in general, but especially these kinds of expensive ones. Without the car and insurance payments, my disposable income has suddenly skyrocketed. What to do, what to do. Well the first order of business is to get a bike. I am in no rush to get a car since I walk to work and pretty much anywhere else now that the weather is nice and the days are long. Next thing is to make as much of a difference as I can in my credit card balances over the next 16 weeks. Yes, you read that right. 16 weeks. That’s what I have committed to without a car. Depending on how it’s going, I may try and continue for a year, since I think I can be debt-free (or close to it) in a year. Add in a car payment and that becomes nearly unattainable. So wish me luck. Not that 'The Luckiest Girl – Ever' would really need it.
Happy summer!
